Yesterday, alongside Protect Democracy and a bipartisan coalition of former high-ranking FCC officials, TechFreedom filed comments urging FCC Chairman Brendan Carr to end the Commission’s retaliatory early review of ABC’s broadcast licenses.

“The FCC’s renewal process exists to determine whether broadcasters meet their legal obligations—not whether politicians approve of their programming,” said Berin Szóka, President of TechFreedom. “Once license renewal becomes a means of pressuring editorial decisions, every broadcaster has reason to wonder whether critical reporting could jeopardize its ability to stay on the air.”
