Slashdot Interviews TF’s Berin Szoka About Online Privacy

Yesterday, TF President Berin Szoka appeared on to take questions about ECPA and other government policies that impact users’ online privacy.

The lively conversation touched on many areas, especially the NSA’s many domestic surveillance programs. While TechFreedom is actively working to end mass surveillance, Szoka emphasized that reforming ECPA is an achievable goal that must be accomplished before we can win bigger battles like those around the NSA:

Now, if you’re really worried about the NSA, the risk here is that, if ECPA reform stalls, it will signal to the NSA’s defenders on the Hill that the privacy movement is weak, and if they wait long enough, the whole “Snowden thing” will blow over. At most, we might get a few measly reforms around NSA transparency.
